Onpoint Health Data Launches Innovative Multi-State Behavioral Health Dashboards

April 2025 – Onpoint Health Data is excited to announce the launch of the first phase of the Multi-State Behavioral Health Initiative: a series of interactive dashboards now available on Onpoint’s website. Part of our Collective Impact initiative, the dashboards are the culmination of an innovative collaboration between Onpoint and five of our state all-payer claims database (APCD) clients – Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont, and Washington – and provide a new resource for exploring the relationships between behavioral health, other medical conditions, and social drivers.

A Data-Driven Approach to Behavioral Health Insights

The dashboards explore key areas of analysis – the most common diagnoses, the most frequent services, and associated costs – while also expanding into more complex areas such as how behavioral health treatment both intersects with common medical conditions and how it relates to social drivers of health across key geographies.

“This initiative underscores the critical value of APCDs and demonstrates how cross-state collaboration can drive meaningful healthcare improvements,” notes Jim Harrison, Onpoint’s President and CEO. “By analyzing data from multiple states, this initiative provides comparative benchmarks that can guide policy decisions and enhance behavioral health treatment.”

Key Innovations in Healthcare Data Transparency

Unlike single-state studies, this initiative harnesses the power of multi-state APCD data to offer an example focused on:

  • Cross-state collaboration. Establishing a scalable, repeatable framework for cross-state APCD analysis.
  • Responsive design. Delivering dynamic tools that enhance data transparency and empower users to focus on the questions that interest them most.
  • Equitable access to insights. Providing high-value analytics at no cost to participating states while also making the data accessible to the general public, policymakers, and healthcare leaders.

Driving Policy & Healthcare Improvement

The Multi-State Behavioral Health Initiative dashboards are powerful tools for investigating key contributors to healthcare cost growth, identifying gaps in care for specific populations, and informing initiatives that can improve behavioral healthcare delivery and outcomes. In addition, this initiative advances national recognition of the value of APCDs and shows how states can work together to leverage their collective data for system-wide healthcare improvement.
